30 Tips on How to Win at the Interview (and Get the Job)!

1. Wear a suit. I don’t care what kind of job it is…you need to “BRING IT” and look professional.
2. Take a shower beforehand! Really, be clean and smell good.
3. Send/create a video.
4. Be honest.
5. Research the Company.
6. Network with people online and in person.
7. Be Remarkable and unique.
8. Get referrals.
9. Have a strong Linked in profile with recommendations.
10. Showcase your knowledge, don’t just tell them what you do.
11. PASSION! Passion wins, period.
12. Smile. :-)
13. Be confident, but not too cocky.
14. Be prepared.
15. Be on-time.
16. Chat with the receptionist.
17. Observe everything.
18. Remember, it’s not necessarily the answers you give, but HOW you answer them.
19. Answer the “negative”question truthfully, but end it positively.
20. If you do have a resume, try to keep it at one page, two tops if you need room for referrals.
21. Avoid cliché words/phrases on the resume, like” strong social skills” or “team player.” (How to Win without a Resume)
22. Ask questions!
23. Be aware of your posture. Leaning forward attentively shows you are listening, passionate, and eager to learn.
24. Dig into the deeper skills you have learned through seemingly mundane task.
25. You are unique, show it through your communication and experiences.
26. You don’t know everything, don’t lie about skills, and if you are stumped on a question say so with tact.
27. If you don’t have a lot of experience in the field, tout your willingness to learn. Again PASSION!
